about

"Spring" is the first official release—a single—from The Cellar Door. The tracks were recorded in the closet of a church this past winter. It felt appropriate to sometimes drive home from these sessions at 2am in snow flurries. These songs bleed the pangs of isolation often felt in winter months. There's an undertone of longing. Certainly, not all the dreams in Spring have come to pass, and some of the words are left unsaid.

Yet the songs lay in waiting for the warmer weather and spring rains. Ground centers on dew-dreams and rest. There is a sense of ease behind the words—perhaps desperate, but ease nonetheless. These songs are cathartic. Their longing is ultimately hopeful, and they are songs for the sunshine.

This is the first of much more to come—the first of many journeys for The Cellar Door.

Track Name: Spring
Spring, you’re not as kind as many think you are,
Sometimes you’re here to stay, but most times you leave lovers in the cold.

Love, you’re so deceiving, unpredictable;
She opens anyway to you, but now her love is froze.

She said, sir don’t bother me, I’m on my way—
I need to tell that there’s no used trying for my hand;
My love is already buried in the ground.

She said, sir, don’t bother me, already made my mind—
You are too good for me, or so told me your pride;
I cant take much more of this, flowers don’t bloom twice.

Girl, I can see you’re hearts been broken, but trust me I'm summer—
Girl, please give me a chance; I won't let you down; your wish is my command.

Don’t you know I love you...
Track Name: Ground
I long to be somebody's ground—
A rock for those weak wings to wait on—
The final sigh after days
of restless air-hanging ways,
Like some turbulent moon-ridden girl.

Turbulent moon-ridden girl
All full of the dew dreams,
You sleep on.
The air is charged with your love,
Electric majesty of another
Miracle mastering May.

I long to be somebody's ground;
Leave the open sky and rest your wings;
And after days of restless air hanging ways,
Wait, O won't you wait and rest your wings.
